Successfully Provisioning a Broadband Wireless Hotzone - Deploying a Mixed Wi-Fi and Pre-WiMAX Network CALGARY, Canada - November 12, 2004 - Wi-LAN Inc. (TSX:WIN), a global provider of market-leading broadband wireless communications products and technologies and charter member of the WiMAX Forum(1), presents Dr. Sayed-Amr El-Hamamsy, President and Chief Executive Officer of Wi-LAN, at the Wireless Broadband Forum on November 16 and 17, Hinxton Hall Conference Centre near Cambridge, U.K.
Dr. El-Hamamsy has been invited to present a Management Forum keynote address titled "Successfully Provisioning a Broadband Wireless Hotzone - Deploying a Mixed Wi-Fi and Pre-WiMAX Network". The session will explore details of the deployment including the equipment and network topology, analysis of lessons learned, network ROI, and the migration to WiMAX Forum Certified(1) products while minimizing network disruption. The presentation will take place on Wednesday, November 17, from 9:00 to 9:30 a.m.

The new Wi-LAN hotzone solution combines the best of Wi-Fi technology with Wi-LAN’s industry-leading broadband wireless products, to offer a complete hotzone suite, including: Wi-Fi hotzone base stations; network management; provisioning and billing; virtual private networks; and robust pre-WiMAX data backhaul.
