Sr VP, Licensing & General Counsel

Bill Middleton joined Wi-LAN as VP Licensing, General Counsel and Secretary in August 2006. Bill is responsible for managing Wi-LAN’s Licensing Program, including negotiating patent licenses and the assertion of the Company’s intellectual property rights in court. Bill was promoted to the position of Sr VP, Licensing & General Counsel in January 2008.

Prior to joining Wi-LAN, Bill worked with Nygard International, a large Canadian manufacturer, wholesaler and retailer, where he was Vice President, Legal Services and General Counsel. He was previously General Counsel and Corporate Secretary of MOSAID Technologies. At MOSAID, Bill was instrumental in managing complex U.S. patent litigations and was actively involved as a significant contributor to the success of its licensing program.

Bill also has many years of private practice experience in at two major national law firms based in Toronto - Borden Ladner Gervais and Miller Thomson. Bill has a BA and LLB from the University of Western Ontario.
